Benzema signs new a contract with Real Madrid
Benzema signs a new contract with Real Madrid to join other senior players that pen down a new deal. Real Madrid has announced that Karim Benzema has extended his contract with the club, which will run through the summer of 2023.
Benzema, who will turn 34 in December, is still the uncontested attacking line captain for the squad.
After Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure, Benzema took a huge stride forward, not just in terms of scoring but also in terms of exhibiting outstanding leadership abilities with young players like Vinicius or Rodrygo.
He scored a brace in Madrid’s season-opening win over Alaves last weekend, and while it’s evident that he’ll need to rest more frequently now that he’s back with the French national team, he’s still a key player and a significant asset for the club, so this extension makes sense.
Benzema joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2009 for €35 million and has made 384 appearances for the club, scoring 194 goals.
