Inter Miami (9-9-5) has won five of its previous six games, with one tie, including 1-0 wins over Cincinnati, Columbus, and Toronto. Miami has held clean sheets in four consecutive games for the first time in club history. The Toronto Raptors (3-15-6) have already lost six straight games.

 

Congratulations to Inter Miami FC for their first three-game winning streak in club history. The team beat 10 man Toronto with Christian Makoun scoring from the penalty spot late into play on Tuesday night, giving them all 3 points and making us excited about our next game!

 

Makoun, who was hauled down by Chris Mavinga, sent goalkeeper Alex Bono the wrong way on the penalty attempt.

 

Kemar Lawrence was sent off in the 37th minute for grabbing Robbie Robinson, denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity.

Inter Miami was also led defensively by Christian Makoun who has been an influential role in Inter Miami’s recent string of successes including Inter Miami’s 1-0 win over Toronto FC where he made 8 clearances, 3 interceptions, and 9 ball recoveries. 

Toronto FC had two players sent off during the match where Michael Bradley was shown a red card for running into Inter Miami defender Lamine Sané who was shown a yellow card earlier in the match for Interference.

Inter Miami CF won 1-0 at BMO Field on Tuesday night, advancing over 10-man Toronto FC and into an Audi 2021 MLS Cup Playoff spot thanks to Christian Makoun’s injury-time penalty conversion.

After Toronto FC defender Chris Mavinga dived in and knocked down the Venezuelan defender on Makoun’s final run in stoppage time, the referee nodded to the spot. Makoun came up big and threw Alex Bono off, giving Miami an exciting victory.

Phil Neville’s team has only lost once in their previous 11 games, climbing to sixth place in the Eastern Conference rankings after a difficult start to the season. Meanwhile, Toronto’s losing run has now reached six games, and they have now gone nine games without a victory.

Inter Miami got off to a good start, but things went wrong when Kemar Lawrence, who was playing at center back for the first time this season, was sent off in the 37th minute. Lawrence hauled the American attacker down as the last man after he was caught on the wrong side of Robbie Robinson, who had been sent in behind by former TFC midfielder Jay Chapman.

Toronto appeared to go up a man – and to the penalty spot – earlier in the first half when Gregore was sent off for purposely yanking Richie Laryea back in the 14th minute.

Inter Miami was able to get on the score sheet in the second half thanks to Inter Miami midfielder Oscar Romero who got Inter Miami on the scoreboard in the 50th minute. 

Inter Miami continued pushing forward but came up short until Christian Makoun scored on a penalty kick in the 95th minute which gave Inter Miami their third consecutive 1-0 victory.
