Jack Grealish to Man City transfer: Villa skipper ‘agrees huge deal’

Jack Grealish remains a key target for Manchester City this summer transfer window.

The Blues would like to enlist the services of the Aston Villa midfielder whose form last season put him firmly on the radar of some of the Premier League’s big guns.

Grealish scored six times and laid on 12 assists for Villa in the last campaign, which won him inclusion in the England squad for Euro 2020. He featured in five games during the tournament, starting once and registering two assists as England lost in the final on penalties to Italy.

Premier League champions Manchester City are one of the clubs reported to be interested in his services.

But the list of potential suitors certainly does not start and end at the Etihad Stadium, with Chelsea and Manchester United also showing an interest.

Source claim City have offered Grealish a ‘huge’ deal, which the Villa man has accepted.

They say City will offer £90m for Grealish, and that any deal is still far from completion, but the agreeing of terms is a ‘significant hurdle’ to overcome.

Aston Villa ‘could accept British record fee’

With Euro 2020 now in the past, talks for Grealish are likely to be the talking point of the near future and Eurosport are reporting that VIlla could be open to accepting a British record fee of £90m for their skipper.

Grealish is currently on holiday after playing in the Euro 2020 final but it’s believed a deal could be done while he’s away with completion happening once he returns.

Villa still confident Grealish will extend contract

According to famed journalist Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa will try to extend Grealish’s contract as they look to fend off any wider interest from Manchester City.

Jack Grealish transfer to Man City ‘as good as done’ with Villa set to accept the £100m bid

According to TalkSport, Grealish is on the verge of joining Manchester City which would smash the British transfer fee.

Though publicly Villa have insisted the 25-year-old, who has four years left on his contract, is not for sale – a transfer is edging closer.

Jim White broke the news live on talkSPORT on Friday morning, saying: “According to talkSPORT sources, Jack Grealish to Man City is as good as done.

“Villa haven’t confirmed it, there is no confirmation coming out of Man City, but talkSPORT sources tell me it’s as good as done.

“The fee will be £100m and Jack Grealish will join Manchester City.”

But despite talk of City planning a £100m bid for him, Birmingham Live reports that Aston Villa “remain unaware of transfer interest” in him, that City haven’t contacted them, and that Villa haven’t put a valuation on him.

However, the report adds that Villa’s owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens – while intending to keep Grealish at the club – have been formulating plans for the squad should he leave.

City ‘ready to break Premier League transfer record to sign Grealish’

It’s been reported that City are ready to smash the all-time Premier League transfer record in order to land Grealish.

Speculation has rumbled on since the end of last season that the Blues might be interested in signing the midfielder.

And now a new report from the Telegraph claims that to get their man they are now willing to break the current league transfer record, set by Manchester United when they spent nearly £90million on Paul Pogba in 2016.

City know Grealish wouldn’t come cheap, with him signing a new five-year contract with Aston Villa only last year.

As a result, there is a £100m-plus price tag on his head, despite the transfer market seemingly being affected by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
