It was a thrilling 3-3 draw between FC Dallas and New York City on Tuesday in their first meeting of the season. Jader Obrian scored two goals, including that incredible 73rd-minute equalizer which gave visiting FCD all hope going into injury time with only one point from their first three matches so far this year!

 

Obrian seized a chance on the run from Andres Ricaurte and past NYCFC goalkeeper Sean Johnson to help FC Dallas get a draw against New York on the road.

 

FC Dallas (6-10-9, 27 points) is in a tie for 10th place in the Western Conference with nine remaining games. In its last eight games, the team has gone 2-3-3, with both wins coming against expansion Austin FC.

 

NYCFC (10-8-5, 35 points) is winless in its previous three games and lies in fourth place in the Eastern Conference with 11 games remaining.

Jader Obrian lifts FC Dallas to tie against Houston Dynamo

Obrian scored in the fourth minute to put Dallas ahead. NYCFC defender Anton Tinnerholm blocked Paxton Pomykal’s high centering ball into the box and straight to Obrian, who took advantage of the close-up scenario.

 

With just 20 minutes to go, NYCFC pulled off the equalizer when Jesus Medina backheeled a pass to an open Maxi Moralez who ripped one into the goal from outside of Phelipe Megiolaro’s frame.

In the 57th minute, Moralez and Medina re-started up top for NYCFC. Morale tried his luck at the bottom right corner with a crisp crossing pass from Gudmundur Thorarinsson, but Megiolaro’s sprawling saves stopped him. The rebound ended up on Justin’s feet though – he calmly kicked it into the net for an easy goal that put them on top.

 

In the 63rd minute, Jesus Ferreira intercepted a ball from Ricardo Pepi on the run, split NYCFC defenders Alexander Callens and Thorarinsson, and beat New York goalkeeper Johnson in a one-on-one situation to tie the game.

 

The response from the New York City Football Club was almost immediate. Talles Magno leaped and volleyed the ball past Megiolaro, who had no opportunity to save it.
