Premier League Week 5  Review

Premier League week 5 Review

The Premier League season is in full swing and there are some fantastic matchups to look forward too. This weekend, Newcastle hosts Leeds at an early hour on Saturday morning while Tottenham Hotspurs welcome Chelsea later that evening for what should be a great game between two top teams!

The Gunners had their first win of the season and it was a big one! They’ll need to keep up this momentum going into next week, when they take on Burnley at home.

Double duty will set in for the top clubs, who will be compelled to play two games per week. As a result, they are always at risk of injury and weariness, which could have an impact on their performance during Champions League matches or other high-stakes matchups such as Europa League matches.

The four teams vying for a spot in Europe’s premier football event must also sufficiently prepare themselves so that no player is hurt while attempting this difficult feat.

Below you’ll find our previews, Team News, Possible Line-ups, and best bets/predictions for all ten Premier League matches, so read on to see who we’re backing!

NEWCASTLE VS LEEDS SATURDAY

18 SEPTEMBER, 8:00 PM, ST JAMES’ PARK

It was a rough week for both teams after they suffered three-goal defeats in the Premier League’s return from an international break.

Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford like an all-you-can-eat Sizzling Turkey leg buffet.

Newcastle United was the sacrificial lambs for Manchester United in this match, with their fans leaving early after seeing them get ripped apart by Cristiano up close and personal again before heading off to Leeds on a high note, as Liverpool could match those odds during gametime action last week.

Although it is still early in the season, it appears like there will be a matchup between two clubs who are both looking for their first win. On paper, Leeds fans appear to be significantly stronger than Newcastle fans; they have more wins this season and a higher goal difference than the Tyneside outfit – though not by much! Even yet, I wouldn’t feel comfortable betting on them in either direction because you never know what can happen nowadays.

Both teams are struggling defensively, with Newcastle allowing at least two goals in every match this season and Leeds allowing 11 after four games.

The defenders and keepers aren’t going to have a good night as players like Patrick Bamford and Allan Saint-Maximin put on a display.

Both Teams to Score and Over 2.5 Goals @ $2.75

WOLVES VS BRENTFORD SATURDAY

Premier League week 5 Review
Location: Wolverhampton
Venue: Molineux Stadium

This isn’t exactly a blockbuster, but there is value to be found in this market. The Premier League has had some good early Saturday night kickoffs this season; this isn’t exactly a blockbuster, but there is value to be found in this market.

With a total of five goals scored in eight meetings, neither side has shown much in terms of attacking ability.

On the positive side, they’ve been quite resolute defensively, conceding only five goals in all.

Brentford had better luck than most teams in that they managed their way up from bottom spot – but this season has seen Wolves finally get off on an winning note with victory over Watford last week! I think things will go well for them once again against London rivals West Ham United; two victories out-of-the first three matches tells me all I need know.

Wolves to Win and Under 2.5 Goals @ $3.40

BURNLEY VS ARSENAL

SUNDAY 19 SEPTEMBER, 3:00PM, TURF MOOR

In a gritty 1-0 win over Norwich, the Gunners earned their first point of the season.

Arsenal’s journey hasn’t been easy thus far, what with all the draws and losses, but at least they now have something to show for it – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s 66′ Premier League goal is worth its weight in gold!

With players like Thomas Partey, Ben White, Gabriel, and Martin Odegaard poised to break into the starting eleven, this will be a much stronger Arsenal side than the one we saw in August.

from home, appears to be decent value at this price. Of course, because it’s Arsenal, buyer beware and all that jazz applies.

LIVERPOOL VS CRYSTAL PALACE

Premier League week 5 Review
Leeds United v Liverpool FC

A week ago, Palace became the first team to beat Tottenham this season. It was also their maiden victory under new manager Patrick Viera and it’s no surprise that I’m ready to say there’s no way they can pull off another win against Liverpool who are starting look scary good again.

In fact, in the head-to-head market, $1.22 seems excessively generous on the Reds.

Liverpool has won the last three competitive encounters between these clubs by an aggregate score of 13-0, while the Reds have won the last eight competitive meetings overall.

The defensive line is looking stronger than ever, and their forwards are coming together nicely. With a suddenly stout defense as well as some solid play out front I’m betting on them winning by at least three goals!

Liverpool -2 Goals, Mo Salah and Diogo Jota Anytime Goalscorers @ $5.08

MANCHESTER CITY VS SOUTHAMPTON SUNDAY

19 SEPTEMBER, 3:00PM,  ETIHAD STADIUM

Surprisingly, City’s previous three Premier League home games have all ended in 5-0 victories, and Southampton, at least on paper, won’t provide much more opposition than Arsenal, Norwich, or a dead rubber against Everton on the final day of the season.

After a Champions League match against RB Salzburg on Thursday morning, this will be a fascinating test of how deep City’s roster is (AEST).

Southampton has drawn three consecutive Premier League games, but I don’t think they’ll get anything out of this trip to Manchester City.

I’ll go with the Liverpool SGM as my starting point and predict an easy City victory.

City to Win -2 Goals @ $2.10

NORWICH VS WATFORD SUNDAY

Man City vs Norwich Live Streaming

In a clash of freshly promoted teams, Norwich hosts Watford in an early season relegation six pointer.

Watford won both of their Championship encounters last season and has won the last four in a row.

While I’m not overly confident in any of these teams, this is a matchup of two bad teams, thus I’ll take the underdogs to win strictly on the basis of value.

Despite the fact that they haven’t scored since the season began, they should be able to break down Norwich’s defense.

Expert Prediction: Premier League week 5 Review

Back Watford to Win @ $3.40

ASTON VILLA VS EVERTON SUNDAY

19 SEPTEMBER, 5:30PM, VILLA PARK

As Villa takes on Everton, there is greater value to be found on an away underdog.

For years, matches between these two clubs have been a toss-up, despite the fact that the Toffees are level on points at the top of the Premier League table.

Beyond playing at home, it’s difficult to see why Villa is favored today; Everton is just the better team.

With the exception of a sloppy draw against Leeds, Rafa Benitez’s work has been solid, and I’ll take the underdog here.

Expert Prediction: Premier League week 5 Review

Everton to Win @ $3.00

BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION VS LEICESTER SUNDAY

19 SEPTEMBER, 2:00PM, AMERICAN EXPRESS STADIUM

Brighton has won three of their first four Premier League games, matching Manchester City and Tottenham.

They only conceded one goal against Burnley, Watford, and Brentford.

Leicester beat Norwich and Wolves as expected, but lost to West Ham and Manchester City.

You just know their attack will click at some point, and this might be the game to accomplish it.

At $2.75, it’s easy to understand why the Foxes are a strong value bet, but Brighton appear to have that extra level of tenacity that will keep them in games.

Whoever wins will have to score, and despite the fact that both sides are capable of keeping a clean sheet, the price on the over is just too tempting to pass up.

Expert Prediction: Premier League week 5 Review

Over 2.5 Goals @ $2.15

WEST HAM VS MANCHESTER UNITED

SUNDAY 19 SEPTEMBER, 2:00PM, LONDON STADIUM

The “Ronaldo Effect” bubble may have burst in Bern, but it was on display at Old Trafford last week for all to see.

We’re going to score several goals in this game at the Olympic Stadium, but West Ham‘s chances of pulling off a shock were dashed last weekend when Michail Antonio earned his second yellow card.

That has taken away the Irons’ biggest goalscoring threat (and put a few smug Fantasy managers back in their place), and United have demonstrated the potential to really get on a run in the second half of games.

I’ll ignore the head-to-head market in this one due to the value on offer supporting a goal-fest, which appears to be the case.

Over 3.5 Goals @ $2.55

Chelsea celebrating

Tottenham will host Chelsea in the last game of the week.

Despite the incredible degree of offensive skill on both teams, we’re in for a real arm wrestle between two sides with a history of hard-fought battles.

Four of the previous five Premier League encounters have resulted in two or less goals, and Spurs and Chelsea have the talent to keep this one close, barring a red card-fueled collapse against Palace last week.

Expect a masterpiece from Ngolo Kante in midfield as he stifles the Spurs attack and maintains Chelsea on the front foot.

Take Chelsea to win as a recommendation, but back the under as a bet.
